Helpful Pet Finding Tips

Lost DogGo to the animal shelter:

Plan to visit the shelter every few days. Do not expect the shelter staff to identify your pet over the telephone. Take a picture of your pet to the shelter.

Put up Signs:

Place signs in your neighborhood, or at stores in your area. Talk to your neighbors to see if they have seen your pet. Distribute flyers up and down your street, and in your immediate neighborhood.

Call Veterinarians:

Your pet may have been injured and turned in.

Place an ad in the paper:

Place an ad in your local paper and check the lost and found section daily.

Get out and look:

You will need to walk or drive around and look for your pet.

Make sure your pet is wearing a license:

A current license is a ticket home. Your pet needs to wear a current license and rabies tag, attached to a collar or harness, and worn by your pet at all times.
  • 95% of lost pets not wearing a license or information tag never make it back home.
  • 95% of lost pets wearing a license or information tag make it back home.
