Beginning June 2026, West Lafayette will transition to a new curbside collection schedule, with trash, recycling, and yard waste picked up on the same day each week. This means your collection day(s) may change. This “Curbside Reset” helps maintain reliable service as the City adjusts to longer travel times caused by a relocated transfer station. The City provides curbside trash collection to residents living inside the City of West Lafayette's sewer district. We provide weekly sanitation services to houses and apartments of 4 units or less.

How to Start Collection Services

Approved Trash Containers

Toter Placement

Please follow these rules:

All items should be at your property line by 7:00 am the day of collection to avoid a missed pick-up.
Must be in an approved trash can.
We will pick up one (1) large item (not a bag) in addition to the approved trash can(s).
Consider donating items that are still usable.
50-pound weight limit
Latex paint should be dry and placed at the curb with the lid off.

Place your toters at the curb with the front of the lid facing the street, allowing at least three feet of space between each container and any nearby objects, such as mailboxes or vehicles.

This spacing ensures the robotic arm can safely and efficiently access each container.

Items Not Accepted

Concrete, bricks, roofing shingles
Dirt, sod, grass clippings
Tires
Contractor waste
Hazardous chemicals or non-latex paint
Televisions or Computers
Items with lithium batteries
Refrigerators, a/c units, or dehumidifiers

Green Wave hosts recycling drop-off events on the 2nd Saturday, every other month at the old State Farm Building, 2550 Northwestern Ave., West Lafayette, IN 47906. Please call them for more information.
