Squirrel Park Reopening

Updated on 06/17/2026 11:29 AM

Mayor Erin R. Easter was pleased to join the Purdue Research Foundation, community leaders, and project partners on June 11, 2026, to celebrate the ribbon-cutting for the newly enhanced Squirrel Park in the Discovery Park District.

Squirrel Park, located at 1451 Mitch Daniels Blvd., now offers more open green space, accessible walkways, new play areas, and inviting gathering spots where people can relax, enjoy the outdoors, and connect with one another just steps from Beck Barn and The Lawrence restaurant.

The park was designed with intention, including clear sight lines from the patios to the playground so parents and caregivers can enjoy events and meals while still keeping an eye on children at play.

Mayor Easter shared, “The newly updated Squirrel Park reflects the collaborative spirit that continues to shape the future of West Lafayette. Investments in public-private projects like this allow the City of West Lafayette and the district to evolve together, strengthening our quality-of-life amenities and continuing to develop a shared vision of long-term growth.”

Projects like Squirrel Park help make West Lafayette a welcoming place to live, work, study, and visit.
