Beginning June 2026, West Lafayette will transition to a new curbside collection schedule, with trash, recycling, and yard waste picked up on the same day each week. This means your collection day(s) may change. This “Curbside Reset” helps maintain reliable service as the City adjusts to longer travel times caused by a relocated transfer station. John R. Dennis Wellness Center

There are many different volunteer opportunities at our Wellness Center, from youth sports coaching, refereeing, and scorekeeping, to helping with community events like our annual Spring Egg Hunt or Fall Fest.

Lilly Nature Center

A dedicated team of community volunteers serves as the backbone of the Lilly Nature Center and the Celery Bog Nature Area. The Lilly Nature Center is currently seeking additional volunteers to assist with opening the facility and providing nature-based educational programs for visiting families.

Morris Schoolhouse

The historic Morris Schoolhouse at Cason Family Park offers visitors a unique opportunity to explore local history and experience what daily life may have been like over a century ago. Volunteers at the schoolhouse assist in educating guests and supporting field trips and special events.

West Lafayette Tree Friends

The West Lafayette Tree Friends are a volunteer organization in partnership with West Lafayette Parks and Recreation that aims to create and sustain economic, environmental, and physical and mental health benefits in the West Lafayette community through planting and nurturing trees in the public right-of-ways.

Tree Friend volunteers assist with pruning, mulching, and watering street trees, distributing door hangers, and participating in community events.

TICT (Tippecanoe Invasive Cooperative Taskforce)↗ — TICT is a partnership organization created to address the issue of invasive species in Tippecanoe County, Indiana. Volunteer opportunities include invasive removal workdays.
De-Trash the Wabash↗ — De-Trash the Wabash is a biannual volunteer event focused on removing trash and restoring the health of the mighty Wabash River. Volunteers walk in parks and along trails near the river, removing abandoned bikes, old appliances, tires, clothing, traffic cones, and other debris in order to improve water quality.
Riverfest↗ — Riverfest is an annual hosted and organized by the Wabash River Enhancement Corporation (WREC)↗, a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering environmental and economic prosperity in the Greater Lafayette Region and the Wabash River corridor. The event promotes education and recreation on the Wabash River which runs adjacent to Tapawingo Park.
