AmeriCorps Week Indiana Day of Service – A Day of Impact!
The City of West Lafayette was honored last week to host an AmeriCorps Week Indiana Day of Service event, bringing together passionate leaders and dedicated volunteers to make a difference in our community.
Many of the City’s leaders generously donated their time as presenters and supporters, including Mayor Erin Easter, Clerk Sana Booker, Park Superintendent Kathryn Lozano, Fire Chief Jeff Need, AmeriCorps Director Rachel Bingaman, and Sustainability Officers Clara Lotz and Halee Griffey. Their commitment to service is truly inspiring!
A huge thank you to the West Lafayette Parks & Recreation Department and Serve Indiana for their dedication and collaboration in making this event possible.
💙 Service Projects That Made an Impact:
🍽 Full Bellies, Happy Hearts – Supporting Food Finders Food Bank by helping provide food to those in need.
🏡 Habitat Builders – Constructing habitats at the Celery Bog to support local wildlife.
🌱 Green Guardians – Removing invasive plant species at Happy Hollow Park to protect native ecosystems.
🎨 Bucket Beautification – Painting food waste buckets to support sustainability efforts.
✉️ Saluting Service with Sentiments – Crafting heartfelt thank-you cards for veterans.
We also extend our sincere gratitude to the Purdue Research Foundation and Purdue Innovates for their generous sponsorship, helping to bring this day of service to life.
Together, we are building a stronger, more connected, and resilient community!
