We welcome respectful dialogue and value feedback from residents, including constructive criticism and differing viewpoints. Open discussion helps us better serve the community.
All official City of West Lafayette social media accounts are designated as limited public forums. This means the pages are intended to communicate official City information and facilitate discussion on topics identified and raised by the City.
To ensure a safe and respectful online environment, comments and posts are moderated in accordance with the City’s Community Moderation Policy.

Community Moderation Standards
The City may remove comments or content that:

Contain threats, harassment, or discriminatory language

Include obscene or sexually explicit content

Promote commercial services, products, or political campaigns

Encourage illegal activity

Share confidential or protected personal information

Compromise public safety or ongoing investigations

Are unrelated to City business or the topic identified by the City
Comments expressing disagreement or criticism of the City will not be removed solely because of their viewpoint.
All moderation decisions are made in a consistent, viewpoint-neutral manner and in accordance with applicable law.
Public Records Notice
Content posted on City social media accounts, including comments and direct messages, may be considered public records under Indiana law and may be subject to disclosure.
City social media accounts are not intended to serve as official channels for submitting public records requests or service requests unless expressly identified as such. For official records requests, please contact the Clerk’s Office.
Emergency Communications
During emergencies, social media may be used to provide verified updates. To report emergencies, always call 911.
