The West Lafayette Historic Preservation Commission's Certificate of Appropriateness (COA) application is free to file. There are no fees associated with the historic preservation review process, and the City of West Lafayette will never request payment information for a COA application. Historic preservation should be accessible to all property owners, and application fees can create unnecessary barriers to participation. Please note that building permits, when required, are separate from the historic preservation approval process but may be necessary for permit approval.

What we do:

The West Lafayette Historic Preservation Commission was formed in 2011. The Commission's mission is to designate local historic districts and serve as a helpful resource in preserving West Lafayette's rich history, dating back to 1855. The commission reviews Certificate of Appropriateness (COA) applications from home/business owners for exterior remodeling, new constructions, or demolition projects requiring authorization.
