What we do:

The Economic Development Commission (EDC) is established to investigate, study, and survey the need for additional job opportunities, industrial diversification, water services, and pollution control facilities in the City of West Lafayette.

The primary tool at the EDC's disposal is the use of the tax abatement. Tax abatements can be used to encourage new investment and increase and maintain basic employment within the "economic revitalization area". Tax abatements can be given for both investment in real estate and equipment. If a tax abatement is granted, the applicant's property taxes are phased in over a period of years.
