West Lafayette Police has received twelve reports of theft from vehicles including two reported auto thefts since Monday, July 3, 2017. Three suspects have been identified and arrested pending formal charges.

The West Lafayette Police Department is a full-service municipal police department serving a community comprised of over forty-two thousand year round residents and a forty thousand Big Ten university student population.
The police department has a staff of 84 employees, including 50 sworn officers whose mission is to protect and serve the community and provide a myriad of other police services. The police department places strong emphasis on crime deterrence through highly visible patrols including foot patrol, bicycle patrol as well as motorcycle patrol. A very strong emphasis is placed on education pertaining to crime prevention, traffic safety, drug and alcohol abuse, and child safety programs at all school levels and in presentations and programs to business and civic organizations.
We are dedicated to upholding the highest professional standards while serving the community in which we work and live. We are committed to the enforcement of laws to protect life and property, while also respecting individual rights, human dignity, and community values.
