On February 19, Mayor Erin R. Easter administered the oath of office to Judge Elliot McKinnis, who will preside over the West Lafayette City Court.
Judge McKinnis was appointed to the position by Governor Mike Braun to fill the vacancy created by the passing of longtime City Court Judge Lori Stein Sabol.
Judge McKinnis received his Juris Doctor from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2010 and has served the Tippecanoe County community as both a deputy prosecuting attorney and a deputy public defender before moving into the private sector.
A few days before the ceremony, the Sabol family presented Judge McKinnis with Judge Stein Sabol’s robe as a personal gift, and he chose to wear it for the oath of office as a tribute to her legacy and years of service to West Lafayette.
