Food Waste Project

In a unique partnership with Purdue University, the West Lafayette Wastewater Treatment Plant is taking food waste from the Purdue dining courts, feeding it into the anaerobic digesters, and producing electricity for the plant.  The project was recently showcased on Boiler Bytes.

The Environmental Protection Agency Region 9 (Pacific Southwest) has put together a video describing the problem with food waste and the process of using anaerobic digester to harness the energy in waste.

We wish to thank Cara Peck with U.S. EPA Region 9 for sharing this video with us.
