Skating Rink

The Facility Includes:

  • Pavilion
    • This 2,500-square-foot facility was designed to compliment the Big Four Depot just across the Wabash River in Lafayette's Riehle Plaza. It houses a food/drink vending area, lockers, public restrooms, skate rentals and rink maintenance room.
  • Outdoor Rink
    • The 70-foot by 120-foot rink, lighted for evening use, available from late fall to spring for ice skating, and the rest of the year for festivals, special events and in-line roller skating.
  • Plaza
    • A landscaped plaza with scattered benches surround the rink, providing seating for spectators and added space for special events.

General Rules:

  • Alcoholic beverages are prohibited in all parks and recreational facilities.
  • Profanity, smoking, loitering, and reckless behavior, such as snowball throwing, are prohibited.
  • No one is allowed to carry anyone who is wearing skates, and no one is allowed to carry anyone while wearing skates.
  • Pets are not allowed in the building or on the ice; pets must be on a leash and attended at all times.

Ice Skating Regulations:

  • Children 8 years old and younger must be supervised on the ice by a responsible person 14 years of age or older. We also recommend that children wear helmets while on the ice and that beginning skaters remain in the center area of the ice rink while skating.
  • Everyone must wear skates on the ice.
  • Food and drink are not allowed on the ice.
  • Cameras, radios, CD players, and similar items are not allowed on the ice.
  • Speed skating; skating backwards; playing hockey, tag, or crack the whip; reckless behavior; and other activities considered to be inappropriate for the public enjoyment of the ice rink are prohibited.
  • Figure skating spins and techniques are restricted to times when there are fewer than 30 skaters on the ice.
  • Everyone must skate in the direction determined by the rink attendant, must keep moving while away from the railing, and must leave the ice when directed by the rink attendant.
  • Please stay on the rubber matting when wearing skates off the ice.
Violations of rules and regulations may result in dismissal from the skating center. Your cooperation is truly appreciated!
