Human Resources

The Department of Human Resources (HR) mission is to create an environment in which the City can attract, develop and retain a qualified workforce that support the goals and values of the City of West Lafayette.  Human Resources strives to deliver programs, processes and services centered on retaining highly qualified, skilled and productive employees motivated to serve the citizens of West Lafayette in the most efficient and creative manner.

To facilitate its mission, HR provides services to 250 employees and an additional 100 Parks and Recreation seasonal staff.  HR is also responsible for the development and administration of a comprehensive employee benefits program; administration of recruitment, selection and hiring processes; development, interpretation and application of personnel policies and procedures; employee relations activities including employee consultation and management coaching; employee training, development, recognition and evaluation programs; promotion of equal opportunity policies and fostering diversity; ensuring compliance with all State and Federal employment laws; and communication with employees on issues of relevance and concern.

Our goal is to perform these functions with professionalism, integrity, consistency and caring, and to respect the dignity and diversity of each individual with whom we interact.

We are committed to providing equal employment opportunity as well as valuing and embracing workplace diversity.  For confidential consideration for one of our listed job opportunities, visit our Employment Opportunities page.
