The mission of West Lafayette Parks and Recreation Department is to enhance the quality of life in the city by providing the best possible recreational facilities and programs for its citizens through effective management of natural, human, and financial resources.

The Department has 16 full time and more than 75 seasonal and part-time employees.
Schedule of activities are published in the Spring, Summer and Fall/Winter Recreation Brochure. The brochure may be picked up at Morton Center or the Parks and Recreation office. It is free and lists the activities offered through our Department.
The West Lafayette Parks and Recreation Department office is located in City Hall, second floor. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday from 8 am - 4:30 pm.
Natural Green Space Management
The Department manages more than 450 acres of property. Managing the 'green space' involves considerations for property characteristics and for community expectations. Much of the green space is managed to preserve and restore natural settings to provide opportunities for the public to interact with and appreciate nature. Along with on-going invasive vegetation management efforts, particularly along the Wabash River and the Celery Bog Nature Area, and Cumberland Park and Happy Hollow Park.
